Ok guys How do you wade through all the BS and choose the RIGHT slick. I have read a lot about different compounds and sizes etc. But how do you choose the correct slick for your application? Frank |

Frank, Here is a real good place to start. I have used MT Drag ETs for a while and they are very good tires for us weekend warriors. http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/tech.php?bulletin=s1 Thanks Don |

Mt drags are the most common,,,,size is determined by hp, what body you have and rims, and rear ratio.I am running 26x8.5 with just under 200 hp,4.56 rear end,I am right at the edge of needing more tire,it has spin a little a couple times, but then my car only weighs 2475 with me in it,I say go with as small a tire that doesnt spin, big tires rob horsepower in my opinion.Guzzi Mark |

You also figure in car weight, engine torque, trans type, suspension type, and how long you want them to last. If you're looking for the dragster they will probably steer you toward a medium tread hardness and a relatively soft sidewall so it doesn't beat you to death driving it. With a low power motor like a Slant you won't have to worry about wadding up the sidewall and driving over it on the starting line. I have 28X9X15 ET Drags on the Valiant and they seem to work well. I may try the hose again soon, we'll see what happens then. |

I just made a change. I needed a lower gear ratio with my new cam and so went from 29.5s to 28 (94.2 rollout to 88.1) I could have did a gear change but it wouldnt have gotten me exactly where i wanted to be. 410 was too little and 430 too much. When I did the calc the 28 inch tire put me bang on the finish line RPM I was looking for so I went that way. Have a test n tune in 2 weeks . I will let you know how it works out. good or bad. Don |
