Can some one please explain what the "offset" is? For example, if the wheel is 7 inches, and the offset to rear is 3-1/2 inches; what is that describing? Thanks! |

There is offset and then there is backspacing. A zero offset wheel will have an equal amount of the rim in front of and behind the wheel mounting face. Backspacing is simply how much of the wheel is behind the mounting face. So if you have a zero offset 7" wide wheel you'll have 4" backspacing and 4" of rim in front of the mounting face as the each lip of the rim is 1/2" wide, but the rim width is to the inside where the bead mounts on the wheel. Positive offsets increase backspacing. A 4 1/4" backspace 7" wide wheel is the same as a +1/4" or +6mm offset 7" wide wheel. |
