Post subject:  FIA Homologation papers OF 1963 valiant

I´we been in contact with both FIA and ACCUS and neither has the homologation 1168(dart) or 1172(valiant) both of these 1963 slant six homologations. Im starting a historic rally valiant build, but i don´t have the homologation papers ,so even if i´d get the car done i couldn´t race it... Anyone who has ,or knows someone who has , either of those homologations pleace be kind and inform me.

Chrysler engineer Scott Harvey, who was also an SCCA rally champion in the mid 60's, did some rally racing with early SL6 Valiants, carring added weight to simulate the "new" 273 V-8 of the day.

Do some internet searching for that history and it may lead you to the documentation you need to get the car accepted.

Mike Ritz has done a lot of work on his 66 Barracuda and homologation and may be able to help you with this: http://www.teamstarfish.com/

Have you tried SOVREN? http://www.sovren.org/

I think i need to get in contact with mr. harvey. I´we heard about the pre v8 valiant rally cars with extra weight ,but i wasn´t sure if it was only rumor. A close relative of mine got one of the a-body monte carlo rally cars back to life (Bo gunnar granroth´s and Esko keinänen´s 66 formula s barracuda ,participated in rallye monte carlo in 67) , so i do know a thing or two about a body rallying. The barracuda was raced in rallye monte carlo historique for three times.(2002 ,2003 and 2004)

He's trying to run a Valiant in a rally (dirt road time trials, basically) event for cars prepped to 1960s era specs. FIA, the group that would have sanctioned events at the time, had a set of documents (homologation papers) that required all Valiants raced then to be prepared a certain way. Unfortunately, they've lost the documents, and they're not letting a Valiant in without proof it's like the ones that were raced back then.

Coupea, I'm sorry I can't help, but this sounds like a very interesting project! I've seen plenty of drag racing A-bodies and some road race and autocross ones, but this is the first time I've heard of a historic rally one.
