Post subject:  Presentation to Seymour Pederson at Clay City - 10/10/09

I thought I would mention that we presented Seymour Pederson with an "object d'art" in appreciation of his years of service to the Slant 6 community.

It was a 1/24 replica of his blue racecar with most details and color correct, built graciously by Mark Charapich (HyperValiant), and set down on a diorama of the (Clay City, KY) Mountain Park Dragway starting line and Xmas tree made by Chuck Ellis (armyofchuckness).

Seymour ran the Slant Six Racing News for 12 great years, from the inception of this racing series. We are all greatly appreciative for his care and effort in reporting, and encouragment of racers fast and slow, rookie and veteran.

Best,

Lou

I heard about this "thru the grapevine"... well done to everyone involved!
Seymour has done a lot to establish and promote SL6 racing and we have the program we have today, because of him.

We actually got lazy (driving-wise), AND found an even BETTER eatery, right in Clay City. "Kathy's Country Kitchen" is my new favorite in that area. Best catfish I've ever had! Good thing she didn't use the K spelling in the middle word, eh?

We did do Pizza Hut in Kearney, so the tradition is alive...

Congrats to Seymour. Well deserved indeed.

He should also get an award for most miles driven to Slant races in a street car.

Congratulations to you Seymour! Thanks for the many years of work and encouragement to all of us. You helped put Slant 6 Racing on the map. Do we have a Hall of Fame yet?? I know a couple who should be in it, and you are one of them!

Thanks, Rick

PS. The carb worked great

Post subject:  Kudos!

Here, Here! Having heard of Seymour's feats, and meeting him in person was a treat at Woodburn (I think he drove home with the slicks on too!!!!).

He's earned his "sheepskin" and then some. Many thanks from me, perfect gift (got pics right?).

Hopefully next time he visits this side of the country I can remember my copy of Hot Rod for him to autograph.

Congrats!!!!!

I just brought this thing into the house tonight. It is really neat, Mark Charapich and Chuck Ellis really went all out to make the car and the drag strip as realistic as possible. I don't know how Mark did it but the hood pins look like you could pull them out if they made a tweezer that small! There does appear to be a nitrous bottle on the front floor though.

I don't know how to get pictures onto the internet, but if no one else has some, I will try to figure it out sometime. I really appreciate the effort that went into this project and I will try to bring it to the Winter get together and maybe out West next year so everybody can see it.

Thanks to all of you who worked on this and presented it to me. It's really all of you that build cars and bring them to the races that makes Slant 6 racing thrive.
Seymour

It was a little cold at Clay City for shorts but they will be back next Spring.

I have some pics, but need to download. You all know how slow I can be, but will work on it...

Thanks for everyone's kind comments.

Glad you like it, Seymour!

If if wasn't for the efforts of Seymour, our fledgling Killer Bee Racing Team wouldn't be in existence and I would still be thinking..just thinking about building one of those A-Bodies to see if I could run a 12 pass on gas with a little 170 motor. He is been a close friend and supporter of all our team members and we all couldn't wait for the next issue of SSRN. (BOY...I MISS IT???)
He kept the link and competiton between all East and West groups' intact and although it was a financial burden to come all the way out West, he never failed to show up at least once a year to support our mutual interest sport of Slant6 Racing. From all the Erickson 'Clan' and speaking for all our now 50 member strong 'Killer Bee Team", a Buzzin' Thanks for all your efforts to make Slant6 racing a reality here on the West Coast.
