Hello,
I'm planing to put a "78" plymouth super six in my "51"
International pickup and I would like to know anybodys
input on what rearend would be best to put in the truck.
I only have the motor and transmission no driveshaft or rearend. What do you think will work the best.

Not sure, but you might want to snoop around at www.killbillet.com because they do this sort of thing a lot. Seems the S-10 and Ranger/Aerostar rears get used a whole bunch.

How wide (drum-to-drum) does it need to be to center the tires under the fenders?

From drum to drum it is right at 60 1/2" but I can go about 1" to 1 1/2" either way. I have no bed for this truck so if I have to go either way with it I can do so.

Tahnks for the help.

I like 8 3/4 rear ends myself for strength and ease of gear changes. The '68-'70 B-body is 60 1/8", '65-'69 C-body is 61.75". If you want to look at other Chrysler rear ends check out the rear axle tech section on Moparts. http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/axle.html
