Hello, I'm planing to put a "78" plymouth super six in my "51" International pickup and I would like to know anybodys input on what rearend would be best to put in the truck. I only have the motor and transmission no driveshaft or rearend. What do you think will work the best. |

Not sure, but you might want to snoop around at www.killbillet.com because they do this sort of thing a lot. Seems the S-10 and Ranger/Aerostar rears get used a whole bunch. |

How wide (drum-to-drum) does it need to be to center the tires under the fenders? |

From drum to drum it is right at 60 1/2" but I can go about 1" to 1 1/2" either way. I have no bed for this truck so if I have to go either way with it I can do so.Tahnks for the help. |

I like 8 3/4 rear ends myself for strength and ease of gear changes. The '68-'70 B-body is 60 1/8", '65-'69 C-body is 61.75". If you want to look at other Chrysler rear ends check out the rear axle tech section on Moparts. http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/axle.html |
