Never done a Hurst but have done several B&M shifters. The inportant thing is to have all the parts and instructions and follow them and it should not be a problem. PS follow instructions. Thanks Ron Parker :D

If it's a current production shifter there are instructions on the Hurst web site.

You have to drill down to the individual shifter. If your shifter is not shown on the page I gave the link for then you're likely out of luck. What shifter do you have?

You need to bolt the correct adapter to the front two holes in the transmission pan to hold the end of the cable. Hurst includes longer stainless bolts and spacers to account for the lip on the stamped pan. Hook up the shifter wherever it seems like a good spot on the tunnel, bolt it up. The cable on mine goes foreword then loops back behind the starter.

Once the shifter cable is hooked up and the body of the shifter is bolted solid to the floor you need to index the cable. The shifter arm on the trans needs to be replaced with the hurst one to properly index the amount of movement in the shifter to the gear spacing in the trans. Put it on and get it in N. Put the shifter in N. Adjust the cable end till it wants to just drop into the arm on the trans. Make sure it will fully engage park and 1. Tighten or loosen cable as needed.

Make sure it can't get into the headers. The cable will melt.

Good luck!

A E & F look like the ones. F is the shift lever- has a 1/2 round hole. A looks like the kickdown. These parts bolt to the trans to replace

E looks like the bracket that goes on the front 2 holes of the trans pan. The top part in the pic receives the cable housing end and you need 2 slightly longer than stock bolts with washers thick enough to space it below the lip of the stamped pan and still hold the pan tight. The cable already has these parts installed for another application (727?) swap them off.

Any more questions?

E and F look like trans levers...

A B C D are all brackets with two bolt hole mounts

do you still run a kick down on a ratchet shifter ?
