Have you guys seen this?

http://www.bangshift.com/blog/Bangshift ... ssion.html

Early numbers are saying $2300.00. Theoretically easier to bolt in than the T-5 swap, but costs more...

Interesting. :?

Post subject:  Hmm...

I wonder what ratios they are offering it in... It looks a little "fat" in some areas and wonder how much pan massage will need to happen to make it fit right...

Bolt-in replacement for the A833 (or so they say) should mean no floorpan hacking. sweeeet.

That is a lot of money.

The floorpan hacking isn't too bad, and making your own crossmember is "character building".

Keisler's TKO is even more, though...

But not for the unskilled or the "faint of heart".

Thanks for the link 'zilla... I'm kind of with Jamie...just looking it over, some of the areas do look like it will need some massage is someone were to plug one under even a late A-body (it's already tight in some areas with the "Stock" set up...).

I guess we'll wait and see....

Yeah, thanks for the link, Z. I can't believe I didn't see that over on Moparts.

Also interesting that Passon is also working on a direct bolt-in 5-spd, possibly with a .66 OD. I like the fact that since both options bolt up to a standard A-833 bellhousing, they are even options for we lowly slanters.

But since even the $2300 for the McLeod is steep (for ME at least), it's hard for me to imagine being able to afford Passon's tranny, even if it IS "bolt-in".

Good reading.

Good point about the trans really only being the start.

Even though I didnt cut the floor when I put my 5 speed in Im puzzled why everyone id so freaked about cutting the floor in their 600 hp car.

Uses factory Bell and clutch and linkage.

Dont have to cut the floor.

That was done 10 years ago for 1/10th the price.

If you really need the 600hp thing why are you so worried about it bolting up to stock stuff in a stock floor?

External linkage?....please no.

I have a Mcleod ceramic clutch with my 5 speed....they make really nice stuff.....but I wouldn t even consider the combo I see there : straight cut gears/ external linkage/ tailshaft OD

In one of the replies it states that the straight cut gears are not for this trans. This trans will have helical gears and synchros.

I like Passon's ideas, but my next manual trans car will be a 6 speed.

For $2300, I think someone could swing a corvette 6 speed and the GM to mopar adaptor if one could walk the talk with the right junkyard...

LOL...

I won't have to bother trying to adapt anything. The 6 speed will be in my new daily driver.

Yeah, I've been looking around from time to time for a Camaro T56 to go in my smallblock project that hasn't seen any progress lately. Seems a used one can be has for around 1200 bucks, plus @500(?) or so for the GM/Mopar scattershield. Then the clutch parts... Could be done for sure.
