| Post subject: | Power Steering Pump Pulley |
Power steering pump went on my van and the new one needs the old pulley installed-what's the trick here?looks like a 3/8 allen threaded in to the shaft where my manual and experience tells me that some heat and a 2 jaw puller should work.It won't budge, left handed thread maybe or just a stubborn pulley?any help appreciated |

The pulley is strictly a press fit. I used to sell auto parts and we had a power steering pump pulley remover. You should be able to rent/borrow one from a parts store. |

Probably easier to just go get a new pump from the junkyard. |

With the right tool that is mentioned by Joshie225 it is a real easy job. Without the tool you run a 98% chance of damaging your new pump and voiding the warranty. TopHat |

Correct. Do not "drive" the pulley on the new pump, use a installing tool (usually a long bolt that threads in the shaft, with a nut to draw the pulley on). This is usually included with the new pump.
