I'm getting ready to swap my auto for a 4-speed, just wanted to know what to expect. My engine is a '64 225. Thanks

Seems like Doc posted recently that early cranks (60-61) might not be drilled and for a few years following that, if they were drilled; might not be bored to the correct (finished) size for a man. trans pilot bushing.

Try searching his posts, I'm thinking this was within the last week or so.

And definitely don't take my vague recollection for the gospel...
Just trying to get you started in the right direction, if I can.

By 1964, all of the SL6 cranks were being drilled for the pilot bushing but as already noted, some are not finish reamed to size.

You will have to get to the back of the crank and take a measurement before you will know which pilot bushing you will need... or buy one of each type... just in case.

And by the time you get to the late '70s with the cast cranks they stopped drillling all the cranks. The one in my engine was not drilled.

My 65 matched Doc's description.

I used the special bushing that NAPA sold (at least last year) that has a reduced OD to fit the drilled but not reamed hole.
