I was just looking through some piston spec's and found another option for long rod pistons for the slant 6. The 2.8L GM pistons have a standard bore of 3.504" a compression distance of 1.598" a pin diameter of .9055" and an overall height of 3.00". The rod could be easily honed out from .901" to .905" to make the pin press in properly. Has anyone tried this combination yet? The Federal Mogul number for this piston is L2492F.

We do make a cast version of this piston which is a part number 516P or 516CP. These pistons are dirt cheap at about $15.00 each and are readily available since they are the stock pistons from 86-93 Chevy truck 2.8L v-6. They wouldn't be the best for a race engine but would be a good substitute for a long rod streed engine.

Elam, I have a Silvolite piston catalog, and any machinist should have that info in such a book. If I think of it, I'll try to find it and look up those specs. Lou
