Howdy

I want to do new rubber seals on my '72 demon- the doors (especially around the windows) and the the trunk. It would be nice to be able to run the highway with the windows up and not have whistling air rushing in noises.

Metro on rockauto is $200 so thats a good price I think and also they make a kit so I don't have to know what to order.

Has anybody used them for a '72? I saw the posts on their '73 up A-body roof seals not fitting well...

I am confused easily by steele and soff seal's website catalogs- they seem to want you to piece it all together and I don't know the difference between roof and door seals etc.

Is there anything else I should know or tool I need before doing this job?

Thanks

3M chemicals would be my choice for removing old weather stripping cement and 3M weather stripping cement would be my choice for making things stick. It costs more but it is well worth the few extra dollars. Other than that just keep in mind that it may whistle less with new weather stripping, but it won't be a 2010 model car. I've never been in an 60's or 70's car that wasn't notably noisier than a new ride...part of the charm of driving vintage.

I got the weatherstripping kit a couple years ago for my 71 Duster and could not get the roof rail seals to fit. They were just too big and wouldn't fit in the channel. I don't know if I've even heard of anyone having a solid installation with aftermarket weatherstripping.
