Why o' why, are these things so expensive? The $56 ones on Ebay seems to be a bargain, and that is a lot of money for Chinese plastic. And the defroster tubes are $50+ and they aren't even the correct sizes, they need an adapter to fit correctly? For that price they should be the correct parts.

Who makes this stuff and were can cheaper versions be found?

You can get the tubes for a few dollars at any auto parts store. Post an ad in the parts wanted sections on here and FABO and see if someone has some cheap ones for you.

Problem with the autoparts store tubes are that both ends are the same size. On my 71, the heater box end was smaller then the vents. I cut a short slit on opposing ends then used a ziptie to squeeze it all together. Little hokey but it works.

Find the defroster vents on full size Doge vans and the defroster hose in the Shop Vac accessories aisle.

I got one that fit snugly on the inside of the heater box end and then perfectly on the dash vent. People will say that it constricts air flow but honestly I can't tell the difference in the old perfect fitting one and the one I have now.
