I'm wondering if these were ever available for the slant, but it seems likely considering the number of marine and industrial slants built. Anyone know if they were ever made? Anybody have a line on a good industrial equipment wrecker?

I'm considering how feasible it would be to direct mount a generator head to a slant and and SAE bellhousing would make this very easy.

Check with Farmland in Tangent.
I'll check with some of my Farmer friends to see if they have any stuff rusting away on the back forty as well. I've talked to some of them that ran the slant in bailer machines. If there is anything left, I might be able to talk them out of some bits and pieces.

I have a 1972 slant out of a John Deere Hay thresher, and it was mounted by plates to the body, had the 11" clutch flywheel, but used a keyed pulley shaft that was bolted to the crank shaft and flywheel using the flywheel to crank bolts... no bellhousing, hopefully the other types of equipment out there used what you are looking for (I think the air raid/emergency sirens did...)

What held the starter if there was no bellhousing?

The slant was mounted on the backside by the bellhousing boltholes to a 3/8" steel plate with a cutout for the crankshaft, and a cutout for the starter to bolt to... the angle at the bottom of the plate was bolted to the chassis... same for the front(kind of like a big green motor mount plate)... I should have kept the plates, they would have made a great mount for a portable engine chassis to break in new engine build on before putting the slant in a car...
