Currently the carburator, a Holly 1940, Runs fine except when at idle, somehow the idle drops too low and then stalls, It was fine before and i was wondering if it is the economizer going bad or if it something else you all know.

What happened is that the mid range throttle power bogged down extremely to a point of stalling, I tried to fix this by adding Sea Foam into the gas tank and so far it taken care of that problem and a day later, at idle, it starts to lose its idle and lower it to a diesel and stalling point.

I really want this fixed before college, thanks.

The 1940 carb wasn't used in Chrysler products. 1920 (thru '73) and 1945 ('74 and later), yes. Which do you have? Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download.

Are you shure its a carburation problem? It could be plugs or mabye the vaccume advance, vaccume leak, pcv valve. good luck

I would bet the Seafoam loosened up some crap from the tank and it lodged in the carb idle circuit.

I am with Frank on this one. It has happened to me before. Pull the bowl and catch the contents to see what came loose then spray it out real good through the high and low speed air bleeds. Are you using 30R9 fuel injection hose? if not stock 30R7 fuel lines will deteriorate with the ethanol in the fuel and plug up the economizer body. I fought this until SL6 Dan mentioned doing the 30R9 upgrade.

Sorry for the long reply, seems everything mechanical or electrical around me is dieing

Any who, it just stopped doing that and went back to mid range, I agree with Ted and Frank, That is the most probable solution and the most probable problem, I will take a look at it, as well as other things tomorrow.

I know for damn sure its not the vacuum.

I also will add for Ted that the fuel line is stock, But If it really was junk from the tank wouldnt the fuel pump have taken the hit? Unless its a buildup of gunk.

The fuel pump and most filters will pass big enough debris to plug up the economizer body. I am running a filter/fuel water separator that goes down to two microns like used on diesels. It stops everything.....

Thank you, by the way i fixed my problem, it was getting clogged up with gunk and such, and now it works fine so far for 4 days, I will be sure to look into the summit fuel filter.
