A 6 74 Duster showed up in the local yard when I made a visit Friday. The car has front disks and the 4 1/2" bolt circle wheels. My question is will the brakes and axles from this 7 1/4 swap directly onto the 68 7 1/4 housing under my Barracuda? I heard that some where along during the production of these axles some parts changed and I do not recall if they are interchangeable. I do not want to swap the whole axle because my car has 3.23's, the Duster is 2.7 and I do not want to get involved in swapping gears. I will eventualy get an 8 1/4 with sure grip under the car. I seem to remember that the later big-bolt axles would not bolt into the earlier housings, unfortunately. I believe you can put your 3.23s into the later housing, but not the axle shafts into the earlier housing. Hope this helps, Lou |
