There are two ports on the driver side one is caped off the other one runs to the choke pull off. Should i run a line right to the flapper ? or would it draw warm air all the time

I have a 85 truck without the emission junk. My probelm is I did not remove it and I think that some important stuff was removed. I put a holley 1920 on it. The only lines that go to it are dist. advence and pcv line. I have a hains book and of course its useless, I want to use the warm air intake and i think the vaccum advance needs to go to a temp. switch, there are probly more things i need but i dont know. can any body help? |

There should be no temp switch or anything else in the vacuum advance line; it should go straight from the carb to the distributor. The thermal air cleaner needs manifold vacuum; depending what year your Holley 1920 is there should be a port for it on the driver's side near the carb mounting bolt. |

Leave the choke pull-off port connected to the choke pull-off. Uncap the capped port and connect a hose from it to one side of the thermal sensor. Then run a hose from the other side of the thermal sensor to the snorkel actuator on the air cleaner snorkel. The thermal sensor is the "flying saucer with chimney" looking thing on the floor of the air cleaner base. Its ports are on the underside of the air cleaner housing. |

OK that makes sence , however the "flying saucer with chimney" is hosed up kinda bad. I will see if i can find one at a junk yard but im shure that will be hard. Is the thermal sensor somtheing that could be robed from mabe another dodge or ford/chevy  ?

The thermal sensors go bad after a couple decades (plus or minus). No longer serviced in the aftermarket or by Chrysler; I have new ones on shelf. Send me a PM if you'd like one. |

Thank you for the offer but, i found one in a air filter housing from a ford. It still works, I checked it with my wife's hair drier. I don't think the exact temp. would matter would it? Is there any thing else that needs to be hooked up? thanks for all the help dan
