I finally have my '69 Valiant running much better. Here's my problem. When I punch the throtle, I get some smoke through the exhaust. I rebuilt my carb and realized that it was completely black inside the throat. It's an aluminum body holley 1920. Laquer thinner wouldn't dissolve the black coating. I don't know if it's carbon or some kind of coating that they put on at the factory. I don't seem to be burning any oil. Is it a problem with the air/fuel mix?? The car misses a bit until it warms up for a minute. Joel jbrig@enter.net |

Make sure the PCV valve and passageway / hose is clear, also be sure to run thick oil during the hot weather months. (no 10w-30) Keep driving and tuning, Slants may not always run well but they will keep running with a little care. DD |
