What is the difference between a Holley 1945 and a 1920. I've read in a few places on here that say to junk the 1945 and get a 1920. I have a 1945 and was just wondering why.

Some people have a hard time adjusting a 1945. Some will say the same about a 1920. If it is working well keep it.

See this thread. It might be better to ask a more precise question, describing the carburetor you have and the issues you're having with it. Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download.

Complexity. I think one of the reasons is that the 1920 Holley is extremely simple and quick to disassemble compared to the 1945. Not as many bolts or parts...........

For example: At the track I can change the jet in a 1920 in less than 5 minutes without loosing any fuel.
The 1920 has a little more adjustability for tuning which is fun when your going for max mileage or driveability and racing.
As examples I have played with adding spacers to tune the power valve, drilling out the high speed air bleed for use with a bigger main jet, increasing flow of the accelerator pump, more flow on the idle circuit, etc.

It is a good carb to learn on and great stepping stone for before moving on to bigger carbs.
