Is there any interest in having a Slant Six race at Silver Dollar Raceway, in Reynolds Georgia?

For those of you unfamiliar with Silver Dollar Raceway, it's a great little 1/4 mile track with very friendly staff and the best fried green tomatoes and boiled peanuts you could ask for! :D They also sell "Freedom Fries" Don't ask for French Fries!

That's the track we tested the new engines in the Dart and GodsRods Duster at. We've had a couple Slant 6 races there. The one I hosted there we only had 5 cars if I remember right. That's when we bent the pushrods for the first time, so we watched from the sidelines on that one. Charlie was runner up to a new young guy named Matt with a stock Duster and his whole family there. Great fun!!

I would be very interested if I could make it Charlie. Sorry I can't be there.

It is just in the exploritory stage right now. I talked to ED, the track owner, and it is very doable. He gave me a list of 6 dates, from April to October, that would be best. The race would be on a Saturday. In the spring and fall, they start in the early afternoon, and during the summer, start late afternoon. There is a Fri night TnT, racers can camp overnight Friday and Saturday, so they don't have to travel, late at night after the races. For the Slant Six race, the track would charge $10 per person, at the gate, and we would sell our own tech cards, for whatever entry fee we want, and set our own payout. Also since the tracks regular bracket program runs super pro and Pro on the 1/8 mile and Sportsman on the 1/4 mile, we could run either 1/8 or 1/4 which ever is prefered. Lou Madsen is going to bring this up, for discussion, at the east coast banquet. If there is interest, the biggest problem would be raising money for the purse. Also the number of cars is not an issue. 5-50 no problem.
Here is a link to the track website.

PS: info for out of state cars: per Georgia state law ALL TRAILERED race cars must have a dry chemical 12 BC fire extinguisher, minimum, in their pit space.

Charlie,

This sounds very promising. Please post the possible dates to open them for discussion.

I would plan to go this year and/or next.

Thanks!

Lou

Charlie, I would be interested in attending if it did not conflict with my work schedule. Vacation days have already been posted for the year, and I used up my favors getting off to attend the banquet this year. Purse??, we don't need no stinking purse! I show up for the racing, not the cash! :D (Cuz I usually don't finish high enuff!)

I could do the October date for sure, plus the weather might be cooler that time of year.

Got a confirmation on the dates, from Ed. July 24th is no good. They are having a 2day super gas meet, and it would get too hectic.

Hello Charlie and others. I am interested in a slant race where I race another slant, rather than the rice we eat all the time, cause it's good for us.
