1. I'm just about to install a balancer sleeve kit, which consists of stainless steel sleeve and a tube of sealant. One end of the sleeve has a very slight lip to the inside. Any special instructions on how to use this? It looks fairly simple, one never knows; also came with no instructions. 2. Also when I removed the timing gear fro the crank, I noticed what looks like the remnants of a gasket behind it (between the gear rear surface and the block). Any experience with this? Thanks dan |

Dan, the balancer sleeve is pretty straight forward, just make sure the snout on the balancer is real clean before installing sleeve. And as you pointed out, the lip that is pointed toward the inside will be installed up and will be the surface that touches the crank gear once installed. A small arbor press will likwly need to be used to press the sleeve on. Just make sure it starts straight, and doesn't try to get crooked. |

Yes, just clean off all of it before putting on the new gasket and cover also lube the seal surface (inside of the hole) before installing the balancer. |
