I bought this 1980 truck for parts mainly. Actually drove it home --pretty rough running. Changed the plugs and wires , set timing, amazing transformation.
When I pulled the rocker arm cover I noticed that the lash adjusting screws were back all the way out and the push rods very close to the rocker arms.
Question: If this engine has the stock head gasket will the thicker Fel pro
gasket give me enough adjustment to safely run it.

I would purchase a set of custom (shorter) pushrods.
Another option is to shim the rocker arm shaft so it sits higher.
