Post subject:  Seat belts for pre-68 cars

Greetings,

I have a '63 Valiant I am trying to fit seat belts in the back seat. The manufacturers installed attachment points for two seat belts for the front seat, but none for the back seat. I am curious as to how others have attached the belts to the body for the back seats. The seat belt kits come with large thick washers that will spread any expected load over the attachment area and act as reinforcements as the factory designed attachments do, but probably some attachment points are better than others. Thanx for any suggestions. The Grandmother I am married to has indicated this is a necessity for transporting the Grandkids in their car seats. regards. RMDV

Seat belt anchorage points, front and rear, theoretically were standard equipment in all cars from '62 on. Sometimes they are difficult to find, and it is possible they may not exist. Take another careful, close look. If you still find none, you can buy mount plates here.

There's mounting points for lap belts in the rear.

Take bottom seat out in rear.

There's 2 dimples in the middle for the center mounts.

The sides don't have a dimple, but there's a flattened area just about where you'd expect to mount the belts.
