Hi Nick, Are these for 2.2?? 88 or 89mm? If so I would say they are a pretty good bet. Greg |

I have three engines with TRW pistons in them. Two use the Slant 6 piston you are looking at with the head and block milled to raise compression. The heads are rather thick and I cut notches for the intake valves in one set. They weigh about the same as a stock cast piston but are much stronger. Several on this board have used them with turbos sucessfully. I just pressed the pins into the rods and they have given long service and produced good power for me. My racing engine uses TRW pistons for a Corvair with the 7" 198 rods, also pressed in pins. The pin bores in the pistons were enlarged to use shortened Slant 6 pins. I cut pretty deep notches in them for both valves. They have also given reliable service and made good power. The Corvair pistons have the advantage of using lighter 1/16" wide rings. |
