I've been having alot of trouble with my truck. I can usually get it to start, but as soon as it gets warm, the idle drops off and it sputters and dies. I've checked for vacuum leaks and found a couple of small ones, but still having problems after fixing them. I replaced the EGR over the weekend as that was one of the last things that I found that needed done and the truck ran fine that day. I tried running an errand the next day and the problem was back. For some reason, I woke up in the middle of the last night with the idea that maybe my @sshole neighbor did something to it. I looked closely at the gas filler and definately saw some white crystals along the bottom. I pulled the fuel filter and found white powder where the gas that leaked out dried. But, I've been able to run it at idle and I drove it to the gas station for a fill up after I replaced the EGR. So I have a full tank of gas in it now and just a suspicion. Should I pull the fuel pump and check it for more evidence? |

Pull a spark plug for evidence. Sugar fouling will be obvious and probably would have not started back up. Check your fuel filter. |

As a test, get a 1 gallon can of known good fuel and run the vehicle off that. Disconnect the hose on the inlet side of the fuel pump and use a longer piece of hose to get into the can of fuel. If there is any concern about the fuel inside the tank, drain it, flush the tank and refill with good gas. DD |

I've pulled the fuel filter a couple of more times until the gas drys clear. Then, if I hand-choke the carb a couple of times it runs fine for a couple of hours. I did this last night and it ran fine today for a couple of medium length trips. Then when I got home, it sputtered down again. When I pulled the fuel filter, it dried white again. Did everything again and I'm idling normally. I really don't want to have to drain the tank, since I don't have anywhere to transfer it to. The likely suspect doesn't seem too sharp, so I'm hoping he didn't put too much in and I can just keep doing this for a while |

Sure you do! Just dump it on the chowderheads lawn and watch the grass die!

Yeah, that would be tempting except he's being foreclosed on already. I'm tempted to call the real estate agent that's selling the house for the bank and ask how much longer until they evict them. |
