i've got a 72 dart, 225, with a bad crankshaft. i found a slant out of an 83 d150 i thought about rebuilding and just set the 72 aside. but if i decide to rebuild the 72, does the steel crank have to have the right rods, or can you use cast crank rods with the steel. i'm sure there's at least one bad rod in her and dont know about availability. thanks, dave. |

Cast and steel cranks and rods are not interchangeable. |

No, the crank has to go with it's block cast to cast and forged to forged. All the bearings on the cast crank are narrower which is why you can't swap around. |

Dave Both types of rods are available new or used. The Cranks are both available reconditioned or used. Hope this helps, Frank |
