Post subject:  engine not starting when hot

we have an 84 dodge ram 150 van and it seems to start up fine when the engine is cold/been sitting for at least an hour... but when it's hot/just recently turned off, it won't start. we replaced the battery and checked the alternator belt already, and the engine is turning over. any advice is much appreciated!

Check up in the "Frequently Asked Questions" sticky on the top of the Engine part of the forum. There is a gas line mod listed that may help. Not sure in a van.

When hot, the fuel in the carb can boil out, and the fuel system can vapor lock. Sometimes re-routing the fuel line from the pump to the carburetor can help quite a bit. :D

Look for SlantSixDan's Fuel Line Mod, or some such.

Gotta go see what kind of trouble Linda is in. She's using my car wash brush to scrub the porch.
