well i'm back with more questions so please bear with me. i've got a lead on an 87 slant from a van. did they use the same block for cars and vans? should i use the 87 manifold with my carb or use my whole set up? will my power steering pump bolt back up in the same holes, and lastly will my points dizzy fit in place of the ele. sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure out the best course for the 72. thanks, dave.

The block will fit, differences with be internal (cast crank, balancer, hydraulic cam,etc...) Everything will bolt to it (power steering pump, points dizzy, manifolds).

It may lack the gump the '72 cam had unless you dial that in, and the timing chain will most likely need replacement on it anyway.

You will have to swap your oil pan and pick up to the new block as they are different.
