My transmission mount is pretty much broken. I've got a mount from Napa and it looks right but it's to tall. (NAPA 602-1121) Got one from a place here in Orlando called Agner and its the same wrong also. (PartsMaster 2272). It doesn't seem likely that the part has been misboxed twice.
I've got a '67 Barracuda with the 904. Slant6 and small block engines should be the same. I'd like to stay away from the poly type as I have heard the transmit a little more noise. If anyone can help me find the NAPA or PartsMaster #, that'd be great.
PS I do have poly motor mounts so i guess i wouldn't matter if it's poly also.

Ditch that silly sandwich mount and bolt in a 1973-1976 spool tranny mount and crossmember can get either a poly insert or a rubber insert
(or even just a nice rubber version from India or China...)

If the rubber fails at least the bolt will keep the tranny tail from climbing too far into your tunnel...

...And yes I have bolted the entire suspension K-member and all from a 1974 Duster under my '67 valiant and it fits great and gives me peice of mind that the spool mounts will keep things from flying off if the rubber fails...

I may go that route in the future, but would like to get the car back on the road with the 67 style mount. Is the correct part not available?

I've got a spool type cross-member out of a 74 Dart and the rubber is worn out. Do the poly replacements transmit a lot of vibration? If not, know of a good source (part#) Are the stock rubber ones really all that bad? If not, (part#)

Bren, reason your new mounts are higher is the old ones compress. Dan's not really busting your balls, he's telling you the truth.

I just got a new poly one to put in my Daytona and it is much thicker than the one in my '66 too. My motor is on a plate so vibration from the trans mount is irrelevant.

I tried a poly spool mount in my Duster and did not really care for it. It did seem to transmit a lot of vibration to the passenger compartment.

I realize that he's not busting my balls. My mount didn't seem all that worn out at the time. I just figured I was putting the trans back in, why not put a new mount in too. I couldn't get it to fit though. Turns out that the clearance I made for the GearVendors OD was based on the old worn, but didn't look worn, mount.
I am putting in the spool type cross-member at this point because I am going in again to make more clearance and figured while I am in there.

So the poly is a little harsh in your opinion. What's the negative points to the stock type?

Only negative on the stock sandwich mount is that it can pull apart and leave your trans bumping your tunnel. However, I have never broken a stock rubber one, and the only one I've seen busted was on Mike J's Buzzin' Half Duzzin' car at Clay City a few years back running 11s. IIRC, Dennis and I helped him swap it out!

BTW, your old engine is doing well in Slantkota and towing my Project V racecar with ease. I pulled away from Greg O's 440 Ramcharger up a 7 mile killer hill a coupla weeks back. 13-14 MPG towing, which is good. It'll be raced again this weekend at Hagerstown. Come winter, I'll finally get around to putting new rings in it - still burns a lot of oil...

The Chinese rubber ones are probably the best you can get at the moment.

The trick with the spool poly is to drill a couple holes in it. Allow it a bit more "give." It's my opinion that it will shorten the life expectancy of the part, but by how long, if any, who knows.
