Hey guys, I am new to the board, but some of you may remember me from K O S. I was just wondering what went on with K O S? Did Richard Omalley show up to run the event? What kind of car count was there? What were the E Ts In SS? I know that Tony Markowitz beat Bill May in the Finals of ss. Thanks! any info would be great! Look forward to seeing some of you at Brainerd later this month!

Hi Mike,
I heard a "rumor" that you were fed-up with the K.O.S. (King of Street) deal and you were building a Slant car, any truth to this??

May-be one of the Slant racers who attended St Louis know something about the KOS part of the race. Anyway, welcome to the SL6 board.

Welcome Mike!
There were three cars there, the Avenger, the green Duster or Demon, (your old car maybe?) and Chapman's old Bee. The guy who owns the Bee posted on Moparts tonight that there were major problems with the promoter (he didn't specify if he meant S&S or O'Malley) and that the payout was very short.

Thanks for all the support guys! I have talked to Tony Markowitz, and he said that Richard Omalley didn't even show up for this one! He owns the green Demon, not my old car but very similar. His is sassy grass green, and mine was sublime green.Anyway, he said Bill May ran a 7.88 in testing on friday and junked the motor (puked a rod) and so he was done, and then they ran a 8.19 in the Demon, and melted it. That left Fred in Chapmans old car. Tony was hurt but managed to hold him off for the win. As for the pay out there was only $300 to win and no money for second, so Fred really took it in the shorts.
Even the S&S guys said they where done with KOS. The poor management of the organization was its down fall. You guys need to thank whoever the leaders of this org. are, for all they do, because I can say from experiance it won't work with out 'em! sorry so long....

cheers!
Mike

Well....Fed up... yes, enjoying my summer away from all that thrashing to make a 3500lb demon go 8.00 He!! yes! (-:
As for some /6 stuff I have recently bought a feather duster and I installed some centerlines yesterday. Dale Harwood and I are really in to the go fast heads up racing thing. We may come to a few, and do some bracket racing with you guys in the duster, but we might build a phsyco motor if there was a fastest guy wins heads up pro tree class...of course there would have to be some kind of attractive purse to make some body spend that kind of money. But we all know we are just pissing all this money away anyhow!(-;

Thanks,
Mike

Well... The Fast Four program takes the fastest 4 bracket qualifiers and runs them off on a pro tree, heads-up for some extra cash.
There is also the "Fastest SL6 Doorslammer" title, Mike Jeffrey just took that honer back with a 10.19 pass at the St. Louis race.

And remember that the SSRN staff is always looking for the next *fun* program or "brain-fart" idea to help keep SL6 racing interesting. May-be we can set-up a match race with some KOS cars, this could be an interesting run-off to watch!

The story goes that there was a gentlemen by the name of Mike Robbins from Ringgold, GA who was into drag racing and was going to build a serious Slant 6 drag car back around 2003 or so.
That's from my Challenger thread...

I happened to be going through these old threads and came across this one where Mike Robbins was first thinking about racing with us...

I thought I'd see if I could find anything more about Mike and maybe track him down, tell him about the Challenger,... So I Googled and came across this!

I guess old race cars never die! They just change owners...

I live right here in Ringgold with him....you want me to go by his dealetship and see what he is doing. My other race car I mentioned to you I was taking a break from is also a KOS car, not Mopar though.

You could swing by and tell him you're getting into the Slant 6 series... Maybe you can twist his arm into jumping in too.

Gerald Wright from Ball Ground is interested in racing with us too. :D

He's beating the bushes among members of the North Georgia Mopar Club and looking for a car to race as well.
