| Post subject: | Auto Tranny Adapter Plates? |
I talked to a couple of offline (e.g. "Computers are the work of the devil...") slanters at a local tranny shop last weekend. They asked if anyone had adapters yet for running other trannies. I explained the stock mopar adapter to allow use of an "LA" block Tranny (904,727,500,518,998,999,etc...). One guy was very interested in an adapter for a slant to a Chev 700R4. I thought a while back someone had adapted a Powerglide to a slant for draggin' Does such an adapter exist? Are they willing to machine another unit? thanks, gotta get these guys on line (they're missing out!!!!!) -D.Idiot |

Mark Good man is the only one I know of who has done this, his team put a Powerglide behind a SL6 This is "one-off" custom machining, I do not know of anyone offering this type of adaptor as a catologed / p/n item. DD |

I kind of expected this. I thought he might have patterned a spare (always good to have two of an "experimental item"...) I'll just tell the guy if he wants to go that route to take an A-904 slant housing and his 700R4 to a machine shop... thanks doc, really appreciate it. -D.Idiot Quote:

My slant six FED has a mid-plate made to adapt the slant to powerglide. I believe Mark Goodman made mine for Dick Weber (prior owner). It uses a TCI mopar SB to 'glide flexplate kit, with one hole in the flexplate moved. I am in the process of copying the midplate in order to run a 904 (Slant version) instead of the powerglide. mldingba@rockwellcollins.com |
