I took out the tranny and will be buying a new clutch... The pressure plate was bad, and everything ells was in need of changing. This was taken out of my 67 plymouth signet. Is this a "526 tranny?" Just wondering. Have a nice day!

Looks kinda like an A-903, but I'm not the expert on early trannies..hope someone has a more solid opinion on the subject...

No bump on the top cover so it's the standard duty 903 3-speed, the "heavy duty" one is called a "745".
Both types have a non-syncrow first gear, column shift linkage 3 speed trans.
Hate to say it but these things are no fun to drive. (kinda like driving a farm tractor)

See if you can find an 833 4-speed set-up for the car.

Bolt....where, (generally), are you located? If you decide to do as Doug suggests, I've got a complete A833OD setup from a van that I could make you a really good deal on. You'd have to shorten your driveshaft and come up with a shifter, but.......

I have a pile of these 3-speeds I would sell for "a song" if you want to try-out your barstool idea !
(no-one really wants these things now-a-days)

I am very pleased with the slant-6. With a new clutch in the car I was able to drive it for the first time. This little car was a blessing and came at the right time. With your help, and the Lords all the mechanical work went very smooth. :)

Hmmm what's wrong with farm tractors? The new ones have 30 gear drive speeds and no clutch!

Wow, the last tractor I drove had a no syncrow tranny and a shift mechanisum which needed a searchlight so you could find a gear.
Sounds like I need to get out of Silicon Valley and back to the farm, to check-out some of the new equipment.

I think I had one of these in a red '63? Valiant convertible I owned about 30 yrs ago. It had Hurst floor shift linkage, and a fiberglas tunnel.
