1970 Dart no frills model. Changed points, cap, rotor and plugs. Plugs were all a nice tan color too. Idle is rough while in gear at a light. Idle mixture no help. Car runs great and gets super mileage as is. Fender tag says Timing at TDC but, I did not want to adjust unless it was needed. Anyone have this problem and solved it? |

Tappet lash is .10 intake and .20 exhaust. Make sure you adjust the valves while the engine is fully warmed up. Firing order is 153624. Also, check all of the vacuum lines and PCV valve. Should run great! |

I pulled the valve cover off and all looked real clean etc. Cleaned off the old gasket (cork) and am ready to adjust tomorrow morning. Auto Zone has a Rubber gasket for less than $10.00 so I will pick it up too. Need some gasket sealer (silicone) for a light coating on both sides of the gasket. Also my feeler gauges are worn to the point I can't read them anymore so new ones are a must. Thanks for all the advice and help..should be a breeze cause I have done valves before. |

Was too tight by about a 3/8 turn on almost all adjusters. The adjustment took out the little stumble I could hear at the exhaust pipe and I re-adjusted the carburetor too. Seems to run MUCHO GOODER. Thanks for all the help and advice...Dave |

If you don't have hardened valve seats, I suggest using a lead substitute additive in the fuel. My '70 Satellite has the valves noticeably recede into the head after several hundred miles of highway driving. The additive halped reduce it. Ken
