Post subject:  64 Valiant Project

Well I am starting work on my 1964 Valiant finally. I will be building this car for drag racing and maybe a trip of two to the grocery store. I took it down today to weigh it with me in it before she goes on a very strict diet. She came in at 2940 take away my 190 and she is at 2750. I would like to be at 2500 with me in it so let the gutting begin. I will get rid of the norm such as the front and back seat the spare tire and old bumper jack. I would like to keep the carpet, headliner and stock dash and door panels. Do you guys think my goal is possible and what are some recommendations for dropping weight? Maybe I can stop eating too :( The car will be turboed and I will have to add a roll bar so I will have to be putting some weight back in :x Thanks......Raymond

Thats a really clean 64!! I am supposed to get a 64 Signet next week.....I hope to have pics next week of mine. How stripped down are you gonna go? Like no heater stripped? Or plastic side windows stripped? My 62 Valiantd rag car is .....well, gutted, so I can tell you where some weight is on the car.
Great car.....and good luck!!

Thanks Kidd I had a 63 Signet but it was rusted out too much so I found this 64. It is nice to start with a solid car and is hard to find up here in Washington.

I Got the head cleaned up today and marked out for gasket matching. Intake ports were close so I will just clean them up exhaust needs some work as always. The posts for the rocker arm shaft and one of the valve guides are chiped a little will this be a problem? I also found some wires from casting that were left behind from the factory. I will post some pics of the head when I am done porting.

I am sorry I did not answer your question Kidd about how gutted I am going. I am trying to save as much weight as possible and if I have to go to lexan sides I will.2500 might be a strech but I will get as close to it as I can.
