Just had my carb rebuilt on my 225 ci '75 dart because it was missing one either hard right/ left turns. Could not fix the problem perfectly..there is still some hesitation on the left turn from a standing start.and still a hard starter...it is thought that the accelerator pump is coming too soon hence flooding it. The fix I guess is a new carb ? Thoughts ? ian. |

I would check all of the ignition wires for lose connections that might be losing contact. Just a thought good luck |

Will try that tonight. We replaced the gas pump..blew the gas line out, replaced fuel filters and went back several times looking to see if the car was rebuilt incorrectly.. Since this engine will be history in 2011, I don't want to put too much more $ into it..I will be putting it away in November or when the snow starts to fly.. thanks ian. |

This sounds like a fuel delivery problem, not electrical. Check the carburetor for proper float level. If too low, fuel will tend to slosh to one side during an aggressive turn, causing a temporary lean condition. Also check fuel pressure, could be low, and not keeping fuel bowl level high enough while driving, thus creating the above slosh condition. Hesitation during acceleration most often is caused by a lean condition. This is illustrated by popping sound, back firing back through the carburetor, or a real bad flat spot when one puts their foot down. With engine off, look down the carburetor and open the throttle. Is there a nice steady squirt of fuel, or just a little dribble? Did you use a Holley rebuild kit, or a non Holley kit? If not, I would recommend putting in a Holley kit, and I bet all your problems will be cured. Every book I have read covering Holley carburetors recommend using only genuine Holley parts and kits. If a dribble, the accelerator pump is not delivering a full shot. You will have to disassemble the carburetor, and examine the pump diaphragm for holes or misalignment. Also make sure none of the passages feeding the accelerator pump are blocked from using the wrong gasket set. |

I should explain better...there is absolutely no hesitation while acceleration in a straight line nor turning right nor turning left at road speed..only from a standing stop , under hard acceleration not soft , turning left..odd. eh ?
