Post subject:  New Electric Radiator cooling fan.

This thing has been on back order since June, but it was worth the wait. It is a full 16" fan with a full shroud that is only 3.25" thick. That is an amazing accomplishment, and a clever piece of engineering.

Anyway, the point is, it was the only full fan I have found that would fit between the water pump snout and the aluminum radiator I put in several years ago. I have been functioning with two 10" fans that were staggered to miss the water pump. This left large sections of the radiator not covered. I got it installed Wednesday night, and got it wired Thursday night.

The company that markets this fan is Cooling Components, and their phone number is 901-336-6194. I think the product number is CCI series 17 fan, although that number may apply to a group of fans of different sizes. I got mine from Sachse Rod Shop in Texas. Their web page is posted in an earlier thread. To make it fit cleanly between the end tank of this particular radiator I had to trim 1/8" off of the shroud on each side with a table saw. There was plenty of material to work with, so it was not a problem.

They have a hard time getting these, as the motors are in big demand, hence the high price. It was $249 plus shipping. But, I have spent more in the past on multiple units that did not do the job. I am very happy with this, if it keeps working. (Read my thread titled A Bit of a Rant.) I will try to get a photo and post it soon.

Post subject:  here is a poor photo

I had to switch off the flash to eliminate glare, and the results show I could not hold still enough. But here it is none-the-less.

The great thing about this is that it fully encloses the cooling tubes of the radiator, leaving none of them without fan forced air flowing across them. The fan itself looks just like a blown up computer cooling fan. It is pretty "cool". And so far has worked quite well. But then, the weather is getting cooler.
