I am going to say Possibly. The main problem I see is fabricating a way to attach the factory throttle cable and kickdown linkage to that carb. However, that doesn't look too difficult to overcome, especially if you have a standard BBD to use for parts or as a guide. That choke is interesting. You would not use the factory choke setup but would, instead use the one on that carb. Otherwise, it looks like it should bolt and hook up to all slant six linkages and manifolds. |

cool, i also found a holley NOS one... around the same price but i was told that holley made stuff that just aint as good... >.> of course he was a carter guy, but that carter guy works on MOPAR only and has had to remove and work on them for about 15 years now... >.> so i will see what goes on, since i missed my chance for the NOS carter that was up about a week ago. |

NO, NO, NO, BAD OPTION! Stay away from BBD's for AMC/Jeep. The owners of those do anything to find another working carb, as those BBD's don't have a functioning idle circuit. I also remember SlantsixDan writing up on that subject in a thread earlier. Olaf |

Well, if you can't find a good BBD, then the Holley 2280 is a fine carb. |

Not only are the AMC/Jeep BBDs undesirable, but this is not a Carter carburetor. It's a "Carter type" carburetor. They are also being auctioned in "low top" and "high top" Chrysler variants. They are Chinese knockoffs. Do you want a Chinese copycat carburetor full of gasoline sitting on top of your engine? I don't. |

first of, mr slantsixdan does have a rocking beard. secondly, reed, does that 2280 just bolt straight to the stock 2bbl intake? |

Yes, the Holley 2280 was first an aftermarket replacement carb for the BBD, but then Chrysler used it as a factory carburetor. Provided the 2280 you get is a six cylinder model, it will bolt right on to the Super Six intake and work fine with the stock components. If you use a v-8 carb, you will, at the least, have to modify the choke linkage to get the slant six choke pulloff to operate correctly. However, I would recommend you buy one of the detached new electric choke units and skip the factory choke pulloff system altogether. |

sweet. i just sent them an info request forum for that carb, see what i get back. also since this is a bone stock slant six with 172k miles that was drivin by an old lady in cali *btw it doesnt have that lean burn system on it...*. what else do you recomend i do? |

Well, if it is a 74, it wouldn't be possible for it to have a lean burn system. I would recommend routing the distributor vacuum advance line directly to the carb and bypass the OSAC, check the timing chain for stretch, check the timing mark/vibration damper for slippage, upgrade the exhaust to 2 1/4 inch before the muffler and 2 inch after the muffler, fabricate a cold air induction system, rebuild the suspension and replace any worn parts, disconnecting the EGR and removing the EGR vacuum amplification system, adding a clutch fan, doing the fuel line relocation mod discussed elsewhere on this site, spending the time to map your spark advance curve and then recurve the distributor, do a thorough valve lash and tune up, and drive and enjoy your car. |
