i know its not the most effecient as far as emmisions go but is anyone running a tbi fuel injected setup like the holley systems, or a retrofitted tbi off of some other brand? |

I think it isn't worth it to got through the hassle of putting a TBI injection system on. If you are going to go through the expense and difficulty of installing fuel injection, I say go straight to multi-point fuel injection, preferably a mass-airflow based system. TBIs are little better than a well tuned carb. |

I would have to disagree with the idea of going straight to multi-port. As far as the total cost and time investment of the fuel injection conversion the Throttle body and injectors are very minimal. There is a steep learning curve for tuning and a lot more time putting together the in tank pump (if you choose to do that) than what I did for the manifolds. The simplest would be a carb replacement with the EZ-Efi by F.A.S.T, and also the most expensive. It does what TBI was suppose to do, replace the carb with a computer controlled fuel system. As Reed said a TBI will perform a little better than a very very well tuned carb. So the more simpler option would be to put an o2 sensor on the carb set-up and tune it as best you can. Than you have Megasquirt, which I have read several guys grabbing the TBI unit off of the Holley system because it goes on the Holley four barrel manifolds. Scrounging the swap meets and ebay for the TBI and offy manifold is pretty easy. Than you got the final option which Greg O did was to get a four barrel manifold with bungs ready to drill. Still requires you taking it to the machine shop, which 90% I don't trust anymore (my problem not yours). So yeah, I would say simply putting the Holley 4 barrel TBI on a clifford or Offy would be pretty simple or here is another http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... hlight=tbi . However, if you really want to go for it than I would suggest Multi-port. |

I think Lou is still running the Holly TBI with Mega Squirt controller on his 64. It runs very well. It is simpler that the machining required to go MPI, and would allow you to focus on the hard stuff, like the tuning, calibration, and the sensors and such first. Then later replace the TB with a fuel rail once you have mastered the concepts of EFI. Sam |

We ran a set of EGT probes on each cylinder on a TBI-equipped (V8) car at work once. Fuel distribution wasn't any better than a carb, and improved a good bit with multi port. The engine started up a lot better and had better drivability with the TBI than the carb, however. But multiport gives a step up from that, of about the same size as the carb to TBI jump. |

TBI is running and well on my '64 Dart. I agree with Sam and others - easier to set up than MPFI, but agree with Matt that the steps up are somewhat equal from carb --> TBI --> MPFI. Lou |

I did the Super six to Port Injection - -Megasquirt II controlled of course. World of difference and good learning experience! Greg |
