I'm told that the 84-87 pickups and vans had the bigger 10" Flywheel and bell housing to fit for the A833 OD. Is this correct? and if so, WHO HAS THEM?

The flywheels for the 9 1/4" and 10" clutch are the same, the truck flywheels if original will be heavier = slower wind up, but heavier launch.

The trucks with the NP435 will have the large flywheel and a clutch similar to the 383-2V and some small block cars...the A-833OD will not bolt to this bellhousing without some help from a welder and a machinist...

The 80's truck flywheel has a larger crank opening provision than the early 60's flywheels if your looking at a swap for an automatic to a manual.

The truck also has a larger diameter bellcrank/z bar on the clutch linkage for the extra force required to operate the 10 inch clutch. Note that standard 9 1/4 Slant disc z bars are subject to fatique faliures without adding 10 inch clutch forces.

I've bolted up a 85 Dodge truck 833 OD bellhousing directly to a 65 Dart slant without modification however the clutch fork needed to be shortened to avoid torsion bar interference

I know there was a way bigger bellhousing and flywheel for the huge truck tranny with granny first and all that but thats deffinetly not what im looking for

So if the flywheels for the 833 OD are the same size, the ones for the small trucks are just a Heavier duty unit? Do the lighter flywheels tend to fly apart?

And I would deffinetly want the bigger clutch seeing as how this is gonna be a pretty hot motor.

What do you recommend looking for?

I have an aluminum OD bellhousing but i dont have a flywheel or any of the clutch setup.

As it turns out, the 10" clutch isn't stronger than the 9 1/4". The wider disc borrows real estate from the housing, so the bolt locations are not as strong on the clutch cover. I used the 10" clutch on my convertible, but it's a cruiser, not a racer. It works well for the street. Check out spec clutch for some HD units. topical post

Spec clutches are reaaalllyy expensive, what stage would you recommend for a hot street car? And now i still need a flywheel. I talked to the guys at Passon and he can hook me up with a HD 9 1/4 clutch, pressure plate, and steel flywheel for like $420 delivered. think that would be a "safe" setup to go with?

I bet that will be fine for a non-drag car.

Stage 2 is like $389 + shipping last I was quoted a while back, but
I have a heavy torque band and heavy car to launch so Stage 2 withered
fast for Drag purposes...I have a Stage 3 disk on the way...

Stage 3 is a bit more...but the Stage 4 is a bit less...the Stage 3+ is the $$$ item...and no one has ordered a Stage 5 for them to even quote a price. How much slant do you think you'll be building?

I'm estimating it will be close to the 230 hp 350 tq mark probably a little less.
The car weighs 3000 and change but im not really going to be launching it hard regulary since its a street car
