Is thee any way to test an O2 sensor without an outside reference? I have 2 narrow bands, and a wide band, and would like to know how accurate they are. Sam |

Don't know about the wideband, but I think you heat the narrowbands with a torch and see if they generate any voltage...... |

As Ems said, use a common propane torch to heat up a narrow band. Once it is at temp it should read full tilt rich, (a good quality volt meter will do) and when you move it away it should drop quickly. If you move it away and it drops slowly then you have what's called a "lazy" sensor. The wideband you can't easily test. You'll need the controller powered up along with it but should react the same with the propane torch. Testing afr accuracy is not easily accomplished. You will need calibrated gasses. I recall reading on the innovate forums long ago they used a process that involved 3 different gasses for 3 different afr points for their testing. |
