I just wanted to see what you guys think about the color panther Pink.
I went to a auto auction yesterday and a man had a 1970 Plymouth Duster.
The Duster had a slant 6 and came from the factory painted FM3 panther Pink. He Said it may be the only Duster with a Slant 6 that was painted from the factory with Panther Pink. The car had no Molding of any kind. It was a real nice car.

Not my cup o' tea, but if it's the original color I'd keep it.

I was wondering if Plymouth used two types of grills in 1970. In this photo it looks like it may have been a 1972 grill.

Cool Color!
The actual name Plymouth used was Moulin Rouge......Dodge called it Panther Pink. The grill does look like it's from the '72 model year but they were devoid the center Plymouth emblem that year. Looks like a mix match of parts to get the car done. I'd bet there is more than one FM3 slant 6 Duster, and if it were the only one it deserves a molded top radiator hose, a correct pre heater duct tube and that is just the stuff I noticed. Good luck if you are bidding on it....

I have seen at least 3 Panther Pink '70 Dusters, and all claimed to be the only one.

Panther Pink is cool, but I always liked Mood Indigo better.

Back in 2006 the Tidewater Mopar Club built a 451cu (stroked 400) Panther Pink giveaway '75 Duster - it looked and ran great. When it came time to sell tickets to raffle it off for charity, many single guys wouldn't buy any due to the color - married guys didn't have as much of a problem...

slantzilla, maybe you just saw the same one 3 different times? :D

383charger, whats the difference in the 70-72 grilles? I thought they were all the same for those 3 years.

70-71 has black center with textured argent silver surround
72 has gray center and smooth black surround
Yeah they are physically the same but the paint detail themes differed.
and then there are the Sharktooth grills for 71 and 72 twister and 340 Dusters...
Duster production in '70 was over 190,000 units a significant percentage of total Plymouth car production so I'd go out on a limb and say the Duster wore the Moulin Rouge/Panther Pink  FM3 robe the most of all mopar cars.
Still, Cool Color....
383Charger, I have seen this car on ebay before.

Thanks Valleyant that's some good information you gave. The reason i thought it was a 1972 grill is because the one on the 1970 looks just like the one on my 1972 duster i own. Also a friend of mine that owned dusters back in the 70's looked at the picture and told me it was a 72 grill.
By the way Valleyant you said you seen the car on e-bay. Do you remember what the car sold For? The one i showed in the picture's was at Red Top auto auction in Georgia. The highest bid it got was $11,500. The seller wanted $16,500. The Seller told me that he believed that there was not enough mopar people at the auction or he would have got at least what he was asking for the car. Also that he was going to try to sell it at Barrett Jackson Auto. Either, way the Duster was a nice car and who ever painted the car did a great job. Thanks for the information.

I don't recall if the car ever sold but remembered seeing it around May of '09 and Feb of this year...probably never made reserve.

My first car was a '72 Duster and I also own a '70 Duster and '72 Valiant and grew up riding/learned to drive in a '70 Duster....You are correct about the grill in the Pink Duster. I think the car would look better if the correct grill were installed but it probably won't make the value any different unless it were motivated by the mighty 340.

I remember reading somewhere that the Playboy Bunnies one year got a Pink Duster.
Are these the ones?
Just a thought,
Frank

66aCuda i did a Google search and i found one site that say's a 66 pink Barracuda was ordered specifically for a playboy bunny. And in 1966 playboy bunny Allison Parks was ordered a pink Dodge Charger 383 4 bb.
They Said the paint 999 pink for lisa Baker was called "Plymouth Playmate Barracuda".
