Post subject:  Bal and Ball Idle Cam

I recently decided to rebuild my carb on my 64 Dart ragtop. I noticed there was no idle cam. I don't believe it was removed, but it's been years. Is it possible there was no idle cam? If I need one does anyone know where to get one. I made this discovery after I rebuilt it.http://www.fotothing.com/photos/462/462 ... 1290017321[/img]

Do you still have the correct, "large head" shoulder screw that retains the fast idle cam and also serves as the curb idle screw's stop?

I don't have screw, cam, or linkage. I went by the main carburetor shop here in town today and he said it works fine without it and that it probably was never there.

No... you do have carb with these missing parts and looks in good condition for DIY rebuild yourself.

Go and ask the shop and see if they have junk carbs to rob these missing parts. The cam helps you to have ramped down fast idle as engine warms up. Otherwise pick up a dirty old carb of exact type from ebay for parts.

I am surprised that you have a stable idle... there is nothing there for the idle screw to rest on.
