I have a 1975 Dodge Dart Swinger that I am currently restoring. It is equipped with the 225 slant six, 904 Torqueflight, and AC. I have a cable (attached picture) that I cannot remember where it goes. It is about 15" in length and appears to be about an 8 gauge with eyelets on each end. Please let me know if you know where it goes on the Swinger.

Possibly the cable used to release and allow the seat back of the front bench seat to be folded forward so you can access the rear seat. It's about the right length.

ground strap?

These are all great guesses. I know it isn't the glove box door strap because it is too long and I have that part installed already. The rear seats are not a folding down type like a Dart Sport/Demon or some of the Dusters. The engine to chassis ground sounds good but I can't find a picture (5,000+ during disassembly) of the strap to the engine. Thanks for your help. If it hits you what it is let me know.

Are you certain this part is from your Dart?

I have been wondering for weeks if this part is for the Dart. I took the Dart apart and labled/bagged every part and this one is not labled or bagged. I had several boxes with components in them and maybe somebody slipped a part in the box. I have been thinking this to be true but you never know.

The engine to firewall ground strap should be a flat braided piece, not round and insulated. It looks to me like it's off a newer vehicle, and doesn't belong with your Dart parts. Absolutely beautiful car, by the way! How about some pictures of the one in the background, too?

Blinker fluid Ground strap.

Actually, I vote for glove box door cable. For what vehicle I don't know.

The white Dart is a '69. I have had it since 1989. I used to drive it on the street but I have raced it exclusively for about 10 years. It is a 340/904, 8 3/4" combination. I have run the quickest of 11.358et at 117.01MPH. It is a really nice car that I have had more than half my life. It is a nice stable mate for the '75. By the way the '69 is in the January 2011 Mopar Muscle magazine and the '75 was in the August 2010 Popular Hot Rodding Magazine. Just little articles about both but they have been in the mags.

The eyelets look a little small in the picture to be it, but there is a short non-braided black ground strap that goes from the steering column to the bracket under the dash. Usually things will work w/o it, but the factory put it in.

I agree with josh..

It's not the engine to firewall ground strap.

Too big to be the glovebox door strap.

Waaay to big / long to be the steering column ground.

It looks like a truck tailgate support to me.
