Well I finally got some new wheels and tires for the '79 duster that I drive everyday.

I got Some 17X8 Bullitt Type Mustang rims and some p245/45/17 Tires off craigslist.

This combo requires the use of a 1.5" spacer to work. So I got the tires mounted on the rims and got the wheels and adapters on the car. They look real good. I might keep them on a day or 2 more before the Winter Studs and Steelies go on for a few months.

Pics:

The old Wheel and Tire combo Weighed in at 41#

The New Wheel And Tire Combination Weighs in at 45#

Plus 4# for the 1.5" spacers.

1.5" spacers? You must have gotten the later model wheels with more than 30mm offset.

I am sure its possible..

I am not all that knowledgeable about the mustang wheels, but I do know that without the spacers the wheels would be hitting some suspension components on my car.

The current generation (2005+) Mustangs have higher offset wheels than the previous generation. The 4th Gen 17x8" wheels are all +30mm from what I've seen. They need a 1" spacer on the rear end of an A-body and will fit over the ball joint on the front if the grease fitting isn't too tall.

Good luck getting it to pass inspection with those spacers Greg.

Yeah, I kinda thought the same thing.

I have another set of wheels / tires for that purpose.
