Can anyone tell me if dropping my /6 connected to my 904 in my 67 Barracuda would not be a good idea, or even possible.

I believe I pulled them out together, but that was 15 years ago.

Please let me know. Thanks.

Bob

No problem, just use both strap mounting holes on the top of the head. I use a short seat belt so I can easily slide along the space to get the correct tilt.

You need the hood off and a "cherry picker" with good travel. The trick is to angle the engine/ trans in steeply and catch the tail of the tranny on a floorjack, then you just roll the assembly back as you lower and pump-up the floorjack as you go. It is way easer then it "reads" here.

I put my stroker 170 and tranny into my Dragcar with the Hyper-Pak and Headers installed! ( I took a bunch of PICs but guess what, there was no film in the camera on that day - oouch!)

Thanks again for your help Doc.

I will take lots of pictures and share them when I drop the engine. I haven't decided whether I should drop with my Dutra Duals attached.

So a seatbelt strap will hold the weight? I would never have guessed that it would.

Have you considered dropping the K-member and bolting the engine/trans to it and then lifting the body over it and dropping(carefully) the body over the assembly? That's the way most of my friends do it, especially if it's much of a resto.

I did consider it. It seemed to me, for this, car, to be more work than necessary. The K-member had previously been dropped and cleaned and painted. This time I will have to paint around it.

Besides, to drop the K-member takes me out of my comfort zone. The next car I restore will be considered frame-off. This one is not.

Thanks for your advice.

A seat belt will hold, as long as it is in good condition.
I had one where the thread was dry rotted and the stitching started to give-out, it did not fail but I tossed it into the trash after I spotted the first few rows of stitch broken.

You can have the D. Duals installed before dropping the engine in, doing this makes getting to all the bolts easer on the back!
