Does your van have the divorced transfer case or does it bolt to the back of the trans? The tail section should be about the only difference, and if you get the wrong one you can have your old one swapped over.

The 4x4 transmissions use a shorter main shaft so you're stuck finding a 4x4 slant 727 or rebuilding yours. I don't imagine this is a common tranmission at all as the similar year auto trans 4x4 trucks all appear to be V8s.

yes thats what i've been searching for ,very hard one to find .for 4x4 anyway.the motor trans and transfer case i believe from the numbers i've gotten off everything lead to a 76 ramcharger? i think my best luck is to just rebuild this one .anymore tips are appreciated.

thanks jimbo

I don't know, and I am guesing, so take this for what it is worth. It might be possible to find an short output shaft, from a trans parts supplier. Then use any slant six 727 and install this short output shaft. Then when you swap the trans, remove the tail housing from your old trans, and install on the new one (very easy to do).

You would be better off taking it to a shop to be rebuilt.the splines on the output shaft for the planetary gears changed several times, and 75-76 was one time it did.
