I have a 170 slant six that I pulled out of my 66 Dart thats getting a 318, but I also have a 1989 Jeep Cherokee with a straight six that is on it's last leg. Does anyone know if the slant six will bolt to the trans in the cherokee, and also fit in the engine bay?? What else is needed for this swap?? Any help is appreciated. |

If you dont know the answer to these questions this is not the swap for you. Nothing bolts up. |

No it wont bolt up. the Jeep 4.0 uses an AMC bolt pattern which only swaps with AMC V8, inline 6, and 2.5 4 cylinder. I am not saying it wouldn't work, but it would be a hard swap, and the 4.0 is just as good as the slant and has a lot more "Oomph" then a stock 170. Depending on how bad the motor is I would find a junkyard or craigslist motor, they are pretty easy to find. If you want to be ambitious get all the parts to rebuild you 4.0 and turn it into a 4.5 stroker motor, Check it out : http://www.rockcrawler.com/techreports/ ... /index.asp |
