I have searched the carter web site and also this one and found a lot of info. on the 3083s carburetor but nothing on the cfm rating. Just curious, we are in a blizzard here in the mid-west with time on my hands |

The Carter 3083S is the 4 bbl. used on the Hyper Pak, and as far as I know also on the first high-performance 273. Quote: Specific airflow ratings for early AFBs are not readily available since Carter did not flow rate their products in those days. However, judging by venturi and throttle-bore diameters, it appears that the flow range of original AFBs is between 450 and 625 cfm, with variations dependent upon the original application.

Olaf thank you for the info. I hope the metering rods and jets are ok and I can have it rebuilt with just gaskets. It has been setting in storage for 40 years |

Here is a link to a thread, that among other good AFB info, lists the jet and metering rod sizes and numbers for Carter vs. Edelbrock, over at v8buick.com BTW, 40 years is an excellent age for a carb!
