This is my cam card Intake: open 14 closes 45 @ .050" Exhaust: open 51 closes 8 @ .050" Lift In/Ex 364" Lobe Cent 108 Running Dur 270/270 Here are my numbers: With the standard bushing in I get Intake 10deg @ .050" 67deg .050" before max lift and 150deg after max lift 67+150=217. 217/2= 108.5 intake cent line When I advance the cam 8deg I get.. Intake 18deg @.050" 59deg .050" before max lift and 142deg @.050" after max lift 59+142= 201. 201/2= 100.5 intake cent line. Is this what im looking for, am I degreeing correctly?? |

That looks right. If the cam is ground without any advance it's only 1/2 degree retarded and that's not bad at all. I would run that cam 8° advanced (100.5° intake centerline). |

Ive spoken to a few machinics about this and the guy at Engle cams. The guy at engle said keep it straight up or at the most advance it 2deg. They seem to think that 8 deg advance is way too much. But then I wonder why when you buy the bush kit it comes with 2, 4, 6, and 8, clearly people advance cams that far. I understand that I need to advance the cam for more low end torque dont now how this works guess thats why Im asking!! How did you come up with the 100.5 centre line? Is there a calculator to work it out or is it just past expierences with S6ers? Just want to get it right first time the engine is ready to be assembled this weekend. Thanks. AD |
