I have a 1986 Dodge D150 225 cu in six and the carbon pellets are coming out of the vapor canister and entering the vapor tube on the Holley 1945 carburetor. How do you take the vapor canister apart? I have removed it from the car and rremoved the screw-in studs but it still won't come apart. Can you buy a replacement part 4241-839 for the entire vapor canister?

The simplest solution would be to just put a clear plastic fuel filter in the line to catch the carbon.

That won't solve the underlying problem though. When mine failed it was pouring pellets out the bowl vent line and the tank vent line.

I'd replace the canister and solve the problem for good. Probably also install the clear filter to monitor the condition of the new canister and prevent carb contamination if it ever failed again.
