Post subject:  Starting a 225 SL6

Hi, just for a 1977 Dodge B300 with a 225 SL6. The problem is that the engine was stripped down (Missed the electrial system, ignition system, etc. ). Got all the parts for the engine now, and it's all together, but it won't fire. Got sparks on all the plugs and fuel to the cylinders.

Could this be the timing? I sat the engine in TDC and dropped the distributor in its slot, but could it be 180 degrees wrong and would that be enough to not even get a misfire?

Thanks

There is no "slot" with a SL6 distributor, it has a 13 tooth gear that can be installed at any of the 13 positions.

I would double-check the static timing, may-be try some different distributor positions, to see if you can get the engine to fire-up.

What I meant with "Slot" was the hole the distributor goes into, my bad : )

I think I got the timing wrong, or the compression is low, but that's not the case either.

Thanks
